Matters Arising:
a) Christmas Tree & Switch on Report: Eventually everything worked out well. Switch On evening very successful. All involved thanked by Secretary. There was a discussion on new lights and it was noted that these were more environmentally friendly and cost effective.
b) Update on Constitution and SCIO: Frances still trying to make contact with Fiona Benton, Cheviot and Teviot & Liddesdale Community Development Lead, Borders Community Action, Jedburgh for answers to questions given to her on recent emails. It was also noted that a SCVO Model could be used and put to OSCR as a starting point.
c) Website: It was agreed we continue with present Website but change contact information to come direct to new email address. Minutes of our Meeting of 12th December 2023 to be placed on Website also once available an update on Denholm Dean.
Secretary’s email to other organisations regarding communal website was met with very little response.
d) Denholm Dean: No further update at present but terms of reference approved by the council. It was also agreed that Chairman of The Dean Sub Committee if not already a Council Member would automatically be a Co-opted member of DF&HC Council and invited to meetings where the Dean was being discussed and allowed to vote on matters pertaining to the Dean only.
Other Business:
a) Boxing Day Hunt: This was once again very popular with a good turnout. Hunts master made a point of saying that this was a traditional event and thanked the Feuars for allowing use of Green for assembly. A Donation for use will follow.
b) EV Chargers: No further update available.
This led to a discussion on development of Fisherman’s Car Park and
Plot 1 area. The council felt that it may be an idea to have an independent landscape architect look at these areas with the brief of designing an attractive multi-use communal space that would also provide necessary income for DF&HC.
c) Tree on Dean Road: SBC cleared this on request. Some other tidying up will be required by DF&HC.
There being no further general business the meeting closed with a
Vote of Thanks to Chair.
