BRIEF NOTES OF THE MEETING HELD IN CHURCH HALL, DENHOLM, ON MONDAY,25th MARCH 2024 AT 7.00pm
The following are brief notes from a meeting which was arranged for Council Members to discuss letter from Lee Baines and finalise arrangements for Car Boots, Ride Out etc.
Lee Baines was invited to the start of this meeting to allow Council to discuss with him his problem and allow Council to clarify tenancy issues.
Unfortunately, this was not the case some 40+ villagers turned up at this meeting with a variety of total inaccuracies which were part of the letter again being voiced in a totally unsatisfactory manner to Council Members present. One particular inaccuracy was that the letter stated 90% of our £13,000 income in the past year was a donation for Legal Fees. This clearly was not the case, the main income in this instance was Grant received from Denholm & District Community Council for Petanque, an in and out figure clearly shown in accounts for past AGM and also published on Website.
Council members did agree that a charitable gift for a much smaller amount than quoted in letter had been received which did assist in extra costs regarding legal fees which the council deemed necessary to maintain terms of gift.
The meeting continued with many more comments being branded at Council Members present in view of the nature of these no other notes taken.
It should be noted though that following a proposal for a meeting to be arranged for 15th April, two council members present stated due to holidays this not a suitable date but this was not taken into consideration.
