THERE WERE NO MATTERS ARISING
RIDE-OUT SATURDAY 3rd JUNE 2023: The following points were discussed:
- John still not contacted by Ride Out Committee but it was taken for granted Ride Out to Denholm would take place on above date.
- John stated he had made contact with Andrew Haddon, who until last year been the organiser of Welcome & Presentations, where full responsibility for this had been passed to ourselves. Unfortunately, Andrew still not available this year but John has since spoken to Sid Huddart who is quite happy to continue as last year and arrange accordingly. Scott to arrange with Sandy Milligan for gifts same as last year and prepare information to be given out on the day. George Thom agreeing to organise Hawick Scout Band.
- Skip Hire Booked with R L Smith. Doug Crew will have dump bags available for placement round green.
- Toilets are provisionally booked with Lakeloos. If possible another quote from Border Loos could be obtained.
- Kenny Stewart organised for Kiddies Amusements etc.
- John to speak with Charlie McCrery re usual assistance regarding fencing etc.
- There was considerable discussion over costs. It was noted that at the charge of £10 per car parking on the green 150 cars required to break even on the event.
There was also discussion on a charge of £5 for a Gazebo and whether villagers should pay this charge. One member stated he understood villagers had free use of green. John said it was not as simple as there were considerable costs in maintenance of property also costs in running this event. He felt it was not too much to ask for a small charge at such events when also able to take advantage of facilities provided.
New council in May to agree charges.
There being no other points requiring immediate attention it would be up to the new committee after AGM to arrange further and ensure all assistance to make it a successful day was in place.
CAR BOOTS: No help forthcoming. This left for new committee.
